Ann, the crafter of these colourful blankets and also the Baby Blankets writes, "I love the rhythm of crochet,  the playing with colours and design and trying out new stitches.  But the best part is how quickly it transforms yarn into eye-pleasing functional items. I am so grateful that I found this perfect craft to keep me usefully busy during these COVID times.

YouTube is my main source for patterns and ideas. My two favourite sites are Ophelia Talks and Lucy’s Attic 24, both from the UK.

All my work will be donated to my Guelph GOGO Grandmother group for their fundraising campaign.

blanket #1“I have been a needlecrafter since my grade school years in Holland. Over many decades I have learned many needlecraft skills, including basic crochet, although nowadays I mainly knit and do count cross-stitch. As a Guelph GOGO Grandmother for many years, I have participated in our three Fabric and Fibre Frenzies working as a yarn sorter. Not being able to resist buying some of these beautiful yarns, I built up a formidable yarn stash. Comes New Year 2020 I decided to start reducing this stash by crocheting “Scrapghans”. I browsed YouTube crochet tutorials and chose several simple patterns that were my skill level but that used many colours of yarn.  Over the winter and into the COVID-19 isolation of spring I created five of these throws. During the heat of summer, I hooked lighter baby blankets and love making them even more, although I use new yarn for them."
