* Lug-a-Mug Bags: Dorothy

In addition to Dorothy's commitment to the Grandmothers Campaign and her active leadership and participation in the work of Guelph GoGo Grandmothers, she is a committed environmental activist.

Dorothy Lug-a-mugHow could these passions come together?

Dorothy decided to continue to sew and sell her lug-a-mug bags and contribute the proceeds to Grandmothers Campaign.
Dorothy explains, "The purpose of the Lug-a-Mug bag was to curtail the huge number of plastic and paper cups which were discarded following every lecture . . . or someone having to wash cups after bridge, women's meetings or other activities. "
Dorothy encourages all and sundry to buy them, not only to carry coffee mugs, but the Web editor knows first hand how much children enjoy the bright, fun bags to carry their 'treasures' and different sizes are excellent gift bags, 'pencil cases', wine bags, etc.
Would you like some lug-a-mug bags? Dorothy has links and friendships in the community.  For example, her lug-a-mug bags are displayed in a large white basket at Picard's in Morriston, (22 Queen Street ) and at Third Age Learning at UoG Arboretum on Wednesdays.  Of course, they are on our 4Gs market table, a welcome addition.

Web editor in conversation with Dorothy: "Dorothy, I understand that you have been creating bags of all sorts for some years and now,  for the last decade, you have dedecated the project for African grandmothers?  Please tell us about that.

       lug-a-mug_beginnings " Approximately 25 years ago I began making wine bags ($6.00) with 2 candles inserted in a pocket. I colour-coordinated everything...cord, thread, candles (Concord) and sold them in wineries, restaurants, gift shops, The Royal Botanical Gardens and at numerous craft sales . . ..
Perhaps 15 years ago, a friend showed me a bag which she had received.
This example was used to make a bag large enough to carry a mug ($2.00) for coffee or tea to meetings, choir practice, workout or square-dancing ...plus Third Age Learning.
